Get Involved with Carolina Fever

Parents make all the difference.  From tailgates to tents, parent involvement strengthens an organization and makes the player experience a positive one.  In anticipation of our first tournament and thinking ahead for summer, we would like to try and coordinate some volunteers to help with the "behind the scenes" work.  If you are interested, please contact Michael Rosenthal (feverlacrosse@gmail.com) or Rob Bromley (asalacrosse@yahoo.com) to let them know.  We'd like to stress that our program is always a work-in-progress.  As such, we would love to open a dialogue between any parents who would like to volunteer with the activities below.

To give you an initial idea, here is some information regarding what each activity would entail:

MANAGER -- We anticipate that the manager will coordinate all of the behind-the-scenes work.  The manager will work independently of the coaches and board of directors; however, they will also be in contact with both parties as the need arises.  This position requires strong organization as you will be responsible for delegating the following responsibilities for each tournament:

  • Tailgates -- Coordinating the set up and break down of tailgates for all tournaments
  • Refreshments/Lunch -- Typically travel teams coordinate volunteers to bring water, in-between-game snacks, and even subs for lunch (most tournaments are all day).  Great snack ideas include: water, pretzels, bananas, bagels, peanut butter, crackers (Cheezit, Goldfish, etc.), Gatorade, apples, graham crackers, granola bars....you get the idea!
  • Tents & Banner - Carolina Fever owns two backyard tents and a banner.  Usually travel teams set up tent areas as a "home base" for parents and players during the day.  The tent area is great to have at summer tournaments when the sun is hot and the fields don't provide much shade.  In addition, we have a banner that the helps promote our team and makes it easier to locate the tent area between games.  We need volunteers to help bring the two tents and banner to and from tournaments.  If you have a tent that you can bring as well that will be extremely helpful.  At tournaments we can upward of 30 people (50+ for tournaments were all Carolina Fever teams participate).  Having more shade is always helpful.

STASTICIAN: To help our girls as they work towards the opportunity to play in college, we must ensure that we take accurate statistics for each game.  To that end, the statistician will be responsible for taking statistics and maintaining an updated spreadsheet of data for the team.

VIDEOGRAPHER: We would like each game to be recorded.  This way, each player will have the opportunity to provide college coaches with footage of their tournament play.  The secretary will be responsible for coordinating video responsibilities, safe-keeping of video material, and providing videos for players to copy as necessary

TEAM ROSTERS: Carolina Fever creates team rosters tournaments to hand out to college coaches.  College coaches look for a quick and easy way to identify prospects and our roster will provide just that.  We need a parent (or two) to volunteer to hand out our rosters/player profiles to coaches during the games and to make sure that they are on prominent display at a registration desk.  The secretary will delegate this responsibility and will be in charge of providing ample, updated player profiles for each tournament.
